She loves him through the black days.
She loves him when the darkness surrounds them and the stars are extinguished, pouring fear into his mind and flooding her with loneliness. She loves him when the world is ending, the sky pouring destruction and hellfire before his wandering eyes. She loves him when the nights seem endless, full of ceaseless tortures waiting for his soul. She loves him when they cling together, united in their weaknesses, his fear of Hell and her fear of solitude. He makes her feel close to someone.
She loves him when he's silent, cutting himself from contact and believing that he's monstrous.  She loves him when he's frantic, running from something she herself can't see and laughing in agony pouring down like rain. She holds onto him when he's manic, breaking from his confines and rushing into madness, for if she doesn't cling to him, she knows he'll truly vanish. He makes her feel needed.
He loves her through the black days.
He loves her in his darkness. He loves her through the nights of endless blackness, when the only thing that makes any sense is annihilating everything because only then can everything be restarted, brought back to the way things were supposed to be before corruption. He loves her when the powers call out to him, demanding ransom for his misdeeds, clawing at his being. He does not want to belong with them. He wants to stay with her. She makes him feel worth saving.
He loves her in her sorrow, when her strength fails and she begins to doubt her talents, her ability to touch others with her soul and heal them. He loves her when she's angry, shouting at injustices nobody wants to fix. He loves her when she's frightened, shivering at lightning in the distance. He loves her when she's needy, fearing that she will be left alone. She makes him feel human again.
She loves him on the white days.
She loves him when they're filled with laughter, smiling at absurdities that only they could understand. She loves him when they're cuddly, her hand cupped in his as they walk down starlit alleys. She loves him when they're relaxing, dreaming of a place without worry, without unhappiness, without impossibility. She loves him when they're passionate, encouraging each other towards their wildest dreams, his of ultimate knowledge and hers of ultimate understanding. He makes her feel alive.
She loves him when he's romantic, sweeping her into his arms and covering her in kisses. She loves him when he's thoughtful, finding what other people miss in her. She loves him when he's silly, regaling her with thoughts that make her smile. She loves him when he's gentle, because that is when he lets her know everything is going to be alright. He makes her feel cherished.
He loves her on the white days.
He loves her when they're conversing with each other, finding they're not as different as he thought they were. He loves her when they're making progress, advancing beyond their limits before they even notice. He loves her when they're powerful, destroying all opposition beneath the force of a positive vision. He love here when they're comfortable, lounging on the sofa and enjoying the passage of time. She makes him feel comfortable.
He loves her when she's laughing, filling the air with a joy he finds infectious, unadulterated by pretense and false judgments. He loves her when she's fierce, never standing for anything lazy or dishonest. He loves her when she smiles, looking at him fondly and filling him with confidence. He loves her when she listens, letting him know that he's not so unusual and that his visions have a place. She makes him feel significant.
And so they stick together, through everything that's happiness and everything that's misery. They stand together on days of promise and nights of hopelessness, picking each other up when one of them falls, because that is their instinct- to protect one another. So they stay together even when love seems over, even when everything crumbles. Because they believe in each other.
So she loves him through the black. She loves him on the white.
So he loves her through the black. He loves her on the white.
And everything fades to a pleasant shade of gray.
This is a Stein and Marie piece, but it can be interepreted in other ways since I didn't use any proper nouns. I did that on purpose because I wanted this to be about more than them as a couple. This is about love and sticking together no matter what.
